Blanca Alvarado
Blanca Alvarado is a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. In 1980, Blanca entered the world of public service when she joined the San Jose City Council representing the community of East San Jose. Blanca continues to demonstrate a true commitment to the residents of San Jose and Santa Clara Valley through her active participation in projects that affect and improve her community.

Teri Perl
Teri Perl received her Ph.D. in mathematics education from Stanford University in 1979 after her four children were in high school or beyond. Her two books, "Math Equals" (1978) and "Women & Numbers" (1993), are biographies of women working in math-related fields. Teri co-founded The Learning Company, which is now a highly successful educational software company. She also continues to publish articles, give workshops on the use of technology in schools, consults, and develops educational software.

Jewelle Taylor Gibbs
Jewelle Taylor Gibbs is a noted author, clinical psychologist, college professor and member of the Santa Clara County Democratic Central Committee in California. Jewelle began her teaching career in 1979 as a professor at the School of Social Welfare, also at Berkeley. Jewelle became the first African American professor appointed to an endowed chair in the University of California. Jewelle is the author of numerous books on high-profile issues.

Gladys Thacher
Gladys Thacher has developed a lifetime career in the nonprofit community specializing in youth and education. She founded Enterprise for High School Students, the San Francisco Education Fund, the California Consortium of Education Foundations, Alumnae Resources, LifePlan Center, and GladNet. She has served on the boards of the California Consortium of Educational Foundations and the San Francisco Zen Center.
